Passing the Time Counting Tattoos
By neonym on Jul 22, 2008 in Travel
Recently, when my wife and I were flying down south for a Caribbean Cruise, we ran into a bit of bad weather. Our plane was forced to land early, and unfortunately for us, we were stranded at the airport for a few hours.
We talked for a little bit, but time was just not passing quickly enough. I had put my laptop in the luggage, so I couldn’t do any work, so instead we needed to find something else to pass the time. Looking around, we noticed that there was a coffee shop, so we picked up coffees and sat down for our long wait.
Sitting there reminded me of being a child, and creating games to alleviate the boredom on long trips with my parents. We would create games about almost anything, and I thought that this might be the perfect opportunity for us to do something like that in the airport.
Since we were at an airport where the climate was warmer than back home, we noticed that there were many people with Tattoos, and we decided that we would each pick a type, and whoever counted the most of their type of tattoo would win.
I chose heart tattoos and my wife chose skull tattoos. We both quickly started to rack up large numbers for both our types, but after about an hour, I knew that I was in trouble. I guess I was a bit naïve in terms of what tattoos people get and in the end, she won.
Though the rest of the trip was uneventful, we still to this day talk about passing the time counting tattoos – and my wife likes to rub in that she won.
