Do you hate going to the dentist? Do you put off making that appointment as long as possible and then spend the entire time waiting for the experience to be over? If so, you might benefit from a few tips for making a trip to your Washington DC dentist a little bit easier to bear.
Here are some ways that you can improve the experience that you have at the dentist’s office:
- Take the time to find a dentist you really like. Maybe you’re going to an orthodontist to get Washington DC dental braces or maybe you’re going to a Washington D C cosmetic dentist. Either way, shop around until you find someone that you can develop a good rapport with. You’ll hate going to see this dentist a whole lot less than usual.
- Schedule the dentist appointment in the middle of a busy day or first thing in the morning. If you have all morning to sit around worrying about the appointment then you’re going to be a lot more anxious than if you just don’t have time to think about it.
- Make sure that you’re as physically comfortable as possible. Wear comfortable clothing to the appointment. Take a sweater in case it’s cold in there. Eat ahead of time so you’re not hungry. The more that you can increase your physical comfort, the less discomfort you’ll notice about being at the dentist.
There’s really nothing wrong with going to the dentist. It’s just something we’ve learned to associate with discomfort over the years. It’s time to change that pattern in your own life!
