My First Halloween

When I was a child, it was against my family’s religion to celebrate Halloween. I had never really thought much about it until this past year. I had my first teaching job and it was practically a requirement that we dress up to celebrate with the students in the school.
 
I decided that it was not going to kill me to participate, but as I had never done this before, I did not have any ideas as to where I could find adult Halloween costumes. I decided that it would be best if I asked a fellow colleague and teacher where she was going to get hers.
 
She told me she had a friend that made womens Halloween costumes and offered me her phone number. I decided that this would be my quickest option and gave Lucy a call. She told me to come down the next day and browse through her selection.
 
I ended up choosing a Minnie Mouse costume and I have to admit that I looked very cute in it. It was a great experience for me and I think I may have been more excited about the day than the kids even were. After all, it was my very first Halloween. If my mother only knew!

Real Men Know Concrete

Do it yourself projects are often times some of the most fun things to participate in. I probably couldn’t have ever even considered creating a dance floor all by myself before, but now that I get to use some of the better cement floor grinders, I can create a smooth surface that anyone can enjoy.
 
What does this matter? Well, it doesn’t. It is simply neat. By having my own dance floor I can help entertain parties. By using the right concrete saws, I can create some interesting patterns and keep the floors looking sharp. With the right insulated concrete forms, I can easily complete any task.
 
They say real men are the men that know how to do things with their hands. But I was never very good at woodshop, and quite frankly I don’t need another chair. It is far more fun to create some concrete structures that are going to withstand time and add a more unique look to my house.
 
It seems almost funny that I am actually creating something, but it is not as though I have anything better to do. Also, I own my home, and I can do with it as I please. Take that, society.

Who Holds the Keys to a Happy Relationship?

You can find relationship advice without even looking. From books on relationships to relationship-focused television shows, everyone has something to say about relationships. The worst culprits are the people in your life who are well-intentioned but misguided in the advice they offer up so freely.

The truth of the matter is that nobody really knows anything more than you do about how to have a great relationship. Sure, some people have read a better relationship book (or written one) and some people have more experience than you do with dating but that doesn’t mean that they know what they’re talking about. Just take a close look at their own relationships and you’ll probably find that they feel as muddled as you do.

The only person that really holds the keys to a happy relationship in your life is you. You need to get to know yourself and your own desires. You need to find ways to identify your needs and then be able to clearly articulate them to another person. And you need to get skilled at figuring out which people in your life are good for you and which ones aren’t.

That’s not to say that you shouldn’t look to the advice of others. It’s always good to get some outside perspective on what you’re going through. Just remember that when it boils down to it, the relationship that you’re going to have for the rest of your life is the one you have with yourself. Work on developing that and the rest will follow.
