Setting Some Travel Goals

One of the things that I’ve been doing a lot of lately is trying to make lists of all of the goals that I have for myself. After going through these lists recently, I discovered that a lot of the things that I want to do are related to travel so I started a separate list of all of my travel goals.

Some of my travel goals include:

  • See all of Canada. I want to do a holiday in lake louise canada and look into canada ski vacations and go as far north in canada as you possibly can.
  • Visit the Northern Lights. I could do this in Canada but my real goal is to see them from five different points on Earth.
  • Go to both poles. I have no idea how I would even make this happen but it can still be a dream of mine!
  • Figure out from experience which Latin American country is my favorite. They all interest me and I want to see which is best.

I may not do all of the things that I want to do in my life but I can dream, right? And I’m taking small steps at accomplishing some of these by doing things like looking into canada vacation packages. I’ll get there!

Tips for Teachers: School Supplies

Teachers who are finding themselvesĀ a little bit overwhelmed now that the school year is ramping up may find that they need to get back to the basics in order to get themselves into a place where they feel a little bit better about the new school year.

One area of a teacher’s life that’s fairly easy to make a little bit easier is the area of school supplies. Here are some tips to help teachers get back on track with their classroom supplies:

  • Create a school supply list. It will take time at first but then you’ll be able to just check things off as the classroom runs out of them so that your shopping for school will be easier.
  • Have an organizational plan for all supplies. This includes supplies that you use at home and those that go back and forth with you from home to school.
  • Get rid of any broken school supplies. Teachers often hang on to things as long as possible since money is always tight in a classroom but having broken supplies around usually leads to bad morale and generally high stress levels for teachers.

School supplies are a simple thing so you might not realize that making them more organized and just generally better is really going to change the year for you. Don’t worry about it; it will.

General vs. Specific Caregiver Education

Imagine that you were interested in getting an education in how to care for elderly and disabled people in their homes. What types of things do you imagine would be included in your caregiver education? If you’re smart, you will look for a program that is going to offer you general caregiver education as well as training in specific types of care provision.

The most important part of your education in being a care provider is going to be the basic stuff that you would need to learn how to do to work with any type of patient no matter what his or her ailment. This type of direct care worker training gives you the basic skills that you need to be an in-home care provider. This education will also qualify you to work in nursing homes and hospice centers if you ever find yourself inclined to move out of in-home care and into institutional caregiving.

Although the basic training is most important to your education, you will also want to get specialized training. You might seek to learn about the alzheimer’s resources that are available to seniors. Or perhaps you would learn to care for patients who have just recently gotten an organ transplant. This type of specialized training will make you a more valuable employee which will mean that you can get caregiver jobs more easily and that you can command a higher rate of pay for your work.

Safety Tips for Paper Shredders

The injuries that are most likely to occur in an office place are those that happen when we mis-use machinery and equipment that we think is fairly innocuous. Paper shredders are an example of one type of equipment that most people assume they won’t be harmed by.

Here are some tips to follow for increasing the safety of using an industrial shredder in the office place:

  • Always pay attention to what you are doing. This decreases safety problems significantly.
  • Be aware that this is a piece of equipment that has the potential to harm you. By staying aware of this, your vigilance will naturally increase.
  • Choose brands that are known for their safety. Dahle shredders are shredders that have a good reputation.
  • Keep the shredder in good working order. Old and broken paper shredders will pose more risks to you than ones that are kept in good condition.
  • Make sure to read the manual. Knowing every detail about how to use the machine is going to make it safer for you to use it.

Mostly you just need to be aware that there are things in the office that can cause you harm if you stop paying attention to the proper use of them.

Airsoft Wars Build Friendships

My boyfriend was telling me the other day about how he and his roommates used to have airsoft wars. They all lived within the same dorm building and the wars were ongoing. You’d be sitting at your desk, doing your work, when all of a sudden someone would burst into the room and take aim. Immediately, you’d reach for your airsoft gun and start calling for your teammates to back you up.

Everyone had their favorite airsoft guns. Some people favored the kwa airsoft. Others liked the echo1 airsoft. Everyone had their own strategies and their own ideas about how to excel at the game. But each person followed the golden rule of always being there when his teammates called. They dropped whatever else they were doing to help out a fellow team member.

These games built up a kind of camaraderie among the group that would have probably taken many more months to build up if they hadn’tĀ  been playing these games. They established a commonality between everyone. They created a feeling of teamwork and loyalty and commitment to the group. Sure, they were divided during game play. But if an enemy had attacked their airsoft soil, they all would’ve turned to defend one another.
